There is no doubt whatsoever that the Silver Duckwing Legbar is a beautiful strain but, as many messages in this forum show, it is very difficult to source birds for breeding in order that 'true' types can be kept. A forum member have previously suggested that I cross a brown one with the SDW. Brown's are also are uncommon in my part of the world - and a disability makes it difficult for me to travel too far, so I would welcome any comments anyone has on the following:
My current best options for crossing are my SDW hens with my Cotswold Legbar Cockerel (a real beauty in my opinion), or my SDW Cockerel with either my white leghorns or my cream legbar hens.
I am also intending crossing my Cotswold Cockerel with the cream legbars as, to all intent and purpose they are virtually the same (or are they?) Regards Terry Your thoughts and comments would be most welcome.
